Furapera: A Sister Initiative to Giveinstead.sg Supporting Food Security in Rural Japan
Furapera, a social enterprise and sister organisation to GiveInstead.sg, has recently played a key role in elevating community aid efforts in Furano, Japan. Leveraging its expertise in digital philanthropy and grassroots engagement, Furapera successfully helped Food Bank Furano register on the Give.Asia platform, enabling the local food bank to launch its first ever crowdfunding campaign.
The campaign has already raised over ¥600,000 (approximately SGD 5,000), with donations continuing to come in. These funds are helping to sustain the food bank’s monthly hot meal programmes and essential food pantry services, which support children, elderly residents, and families facing financial hardship in the region.
Beyond fundraising, Furapera also supported brand development for its local partners. The team designed new logos for both Food Bank Furano and its sister nonprofit, Miraito, and produced professional signage featuring the new brand identities. These were gifted to the organisations and installed in their community spaces, providing a stronger visual presence for outreach and credibility.
What began as a translation support network has grown into a nimble, community rooted enterprise tackling rural challenges through cross border collaboration and digital innovation. By combining on-the-ground partnerships with an international perspective, Furapera demonstrates how thoughtful, small scale interventions, leveraging on cross-cultural perspectives can lead to meaningful, scalable impact.
Our work continues, with more campaigns, collaborations, and creative solutions ahead.
