Spreading Love and Inspiring Hope: Building Brighter Futures for Underprivileged Kids

Mr. Low’s birthday fundraiser in support of SHINE Children and Youth Services’ STAR Programme was an incredible success, raising $4,326 and exceeding the initial goal of $3,000. The proceeds funded violin and dance lessons for children from disadvantaged backgrounds and gave them the opportunity to explore the arts and develop their talents.

The initiative culminated in a charity concert, where these children performed in front of over 330 guests, showcasing their newly acquired skills. The children and their families were beaming with joy and pride at their achievements and it was wonderful to see all these children so proud and fulfilled.

Thank you so much to everyone who participated and supported this cause! Together, we’re helping these children realize their potential, step confidently toward their futures, and create ripples of positive change in their communities. This was all possible because of our generous donor who kindly chose to have a birthday fundraiser instead of receiving gifts. Thank you so much!

About the STAR Programme
The STAR Programme by SHINE Children and Youth Services is Singapore’s first eight-year mentorship initiative for children from low-income families. This unique programme provides sustained support for children from ages six to fourteen, pairing each child with a full-time mentor, known as a “friend.” These mentors, professionally trained in social work or early childhood education, meet weekly with their assigned children, helping them navigate developmental milestones and build social-emotional skills.

By providing a consistent and supportive relationship, the STAR Programme aims to break the cycle of poverty, offering children a chance to discover their passions, build confidence, and achieve their aspirations. Read more about the STAR Programme here.(insert the link below at “here”)
