Left Behind but Not Alone: Help Salim Find Hope Again in Malaysia
Left Behind but Not Alone
Help Salim Find Hope Again in Malaysia
Salim is a 16 year old refugee living in Malaysia who has known abandonment from the very start of his life.
He was left behind by his parents at birth and raised by his grandmother in the same building where they lived together. She was everything to him. His caregiver his protector his family and his closest confidant. She made sure he was fed cared for and loved.
Earlier this year tragedy struck. Salim’s grandmother passed away in a sudden accident.
In the days leading up to her death Salim borrowed money from neighbours to help pay for her hospital bills. He did so quietly and out of desperation because she was the only person he had. Losing her meant losing his entire world.
Today Salim is completely alone.
He is currently under the care of a kind neighbour in Malaysia who has taken him in temporarily and he attends daily classes at Yayasan Chow Kit. Because of his undocumented status he is not eligible to attend public school. While his neighbours are doing what they can they are also from very low income backgrounds and cannot support the cost of his daily life for long.
Salim is still carrying the burden of debt from his grandmother’s medical bills. He worries not just about food and shelter but about being a burden to those who have already given so much.
Your donation today will help Salim repay the money he borrowed for his grandmother’s hospital care and ease the burden on the neighbour currently providing him with a roof over his head. Just as importantly it will let Salim know that people care for him not only in Malaysia but all the way from Singapore.
That kindness crosses borders.
Every contribution no matter the size helps restore dignity stability and hope.
Please help Salim take his next step forward and remind him that he is not alone.
All funds raised will be managed by Give.Asia and paid directly to Yayasan Chow Kit, a verified non-profit organisation.
