Supporting Care Corner’s Children with Learning & Special Needs

Dear family and friends,

For my birthday this year, instead of receiving gifts or ang baos or even not anything! I hope you can support my fundraising event nonetheless. I’m choosing to give back by supporting Care Corner’s Learning & Special Needs (LSN) programme, which helps children aged 5 to 13 with learning difficulties such as ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, and dyslexia, get the specialised support they need to thrive.

Early intervention is life-changing. Without it, children can struggle in school and fall behind their peers. Many families cannot afford the cost of such therapy, and that’s where Care Corner plays a vital role, to ensure every child has the chance to learn, grow, and succeed.

One powerful example is that of three siblings with learning disabilities, Gina (10), Joel (11), and Nicole (12), who have nine other siblings. Referred to Care Corner by KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital in 2018, they were enrolled in LSN’s KidsLearn English and Mathematics programmes, which use multisensory teaching methods to help children learn. After losing their father, their mother Annie who was a part-time security guard raising 12 children, could not afford their lessons even at the lowest tier. Care Corner extended a helping hand to subsidise the fees for her children’s LSN lessons.

Over four years of LSN intervention, the children made remarkable progress. Once loud and unresponsive, Gina and Joel are now able to focus, follow instructions, and show real enthusiasm for learning. Beyond improvements in English and Maths, all three have grown in confidence, concentration, and love for learning.

I would be so grateful if you could join me in making a difference for children like Gina, Joel, and Nicole. Every contribution, big or small, goes directly toward giving them the chance to break free from disadvantage and unlock their full potential.
